This course examines legal aspects and principles pertaining to the hospitality industry. Course topics include the nature of the American legal system, liability, negligence, and contract law. Industry-specific topics include the rights and responsibilities of hospitality managers, employees, organizations, and guests; civil rights and public accommodations; employment law and protection from discrimination; food and alcohol service liability; and government regulation of the industry.
