Welcome to LaGuardia Community College!

Since LaGuardia was founded more than 50 years as part of The City University of New York (CUNY) we have served thousands of students seeking to better their lives and the lives of their families through higher education.

LaGuardia is a national model for student success—ranking fifth among U.S. community colleges for moving low-income individuals into the middle class and beyond—in studies by Stanford University (2017) and the Brookings Institution (2020).

Supporting our students and community is what LaGuardia is all about, and LaGuardia has a lot to offer.

We offer more than 50 associate degree and certificate programs in Health Sciences, STEM, Business and Technology, Liberal Arts, and more. Classes are taught in-person, online, or hybrid (a mix of in-person and online).

Each semester (Fall and Spring) at LaGuardia has two parts, a 12-week session followed by an accelerated 6-week session. Fall I and Spring I are 12-week sessions; Fall II and Spring II are 6-week sessions. These enhanced semesters allow you to earn more credits per semester—with greater flexibility and more choices in terms of what to study—enabling you to graduate in less time. Key dates are listed on our Academic Calendar.

We know that certain obstacles can sometimes get in the way of school. Resources are available at LaGuardia to help you pay for rent, utilities, food, tuition, textbooks, health care and other expenses so that you can succeed academically and personally. Be sure to check out LaGuardia CARES, the LaGuardia Community College Foundation Scholarshipsemergency funds, our on-campus daycare and childcare centercounseling and wellness services, and more. If you need help, please let us know. Our goal is to help you stay in school, do well academically, graduate, and pursue your dreams.

For returning students—you’re well on your way to achieving your personal and professional goals—we wish you a successful and rewarding 2023–2024 Academic Year

For new students, welcome to LaGuardia! We are so glad you have joined our community.

Best wishes,

Kenneth Adams
