Course Title

Language and Literacy in Early Childhood Education

Catalog Description

This writing intensive course introduces students to language and literacy development of children from birth to 8 years of age. Coursework includes language and pre-literacy to early literacy development; the foundational role of early literacy learning; the importance of print-rich environments and intentional instruction; family literacy practices; and early learning standards. Students will develop a teaching ePortfolio and must complete 30 hours of fieldwork in a NYC public school.
