CUNY Start Reading

This course provides a supportive, peer-learning environment for students to recognize and practice the strategies of expert readers, including paraphrasing, clarifying, questioning, and use of evidence. Students will spend intensive in-class and out-of-class time reading a rich variety of fiction and nonfiction texts. This course takes an integrated approach to reading and writing, emphasizing write-to-learn strategies; therefore the course must be taken concurrently with ENG CS99. Successful completion of this course indicates a passing score on the ACT exam and is equivalent to successful completion of both CSE 95 and CSE 99.
