Language and Literacy in Secondary Education
Catalog Description
This writing intensive capstone course is designed to promote students’ understanding of the importance of issues concerning language and literacy in secondary education and their relevance to classroom practices. Students will learn about language acquisition, dialect variation, classroom discourses, and strategies for teaching content-area material to a diverse student body. Students will develop a teaching ePortfolio and must complete 25 hours of classroom observation in a NYC public school.
