Introduction to Nursing for Allied Health Workers

This course is an introduction to nursing, with an emphasis on the transition from allied health to nursing. Students are introduced to the nursing process and the fundamentals of nursing practice. Focus is placed on clinical decision making and the role of the nurse within the healthcare system. Lecture and campus laboratory experiences stress the development of fundamental nursing skills, such as infection control, hygiene, patient safety and medication administration.
