This course will provide an overview of the history of the Recreational Therapy (RT) profession; the development of the standards of practice; legal, ethical, and professional duties and requirements of the RT professional. Accreditation standards, certification, and licensure for the RT profession will be discussed. RT values and principles that establish the ideals and beliefs of the profession are identified. RT models that offer theoretical bases for practice will be explored.
