Transgenic techniques involve the manipulation of genes and gene fragments and their incorporation into new host animals. Lectures will provide an understanding of the theoretical principles involved. Laboratory sessions will involve transgenic techniques in mice and will include DNA separation, collection of ova, microinjection, ova transfer, embryonic stem cell manipulation, colony management and related procedures.
