This course presents the important theoretical developments in mathematicsfrom antiquity to the end of the 16th century with particular emphasis on ancient Greek mathematics. Topics include origins of measurement and geometry,numeral systems, introduction to basic logic and mathematical proofs, themethod of exhaustion and its applications, and elementary number theory.
