This course surveys the broad field of animal behavior, including the historical underpinnings of the field as well as contemporary theories for a wide range of behaviors. The foundation will consist of behavioral ecology and the evolution of animal behavior, as well as potential applications of knowledge about animal behavior. Topics include the developmental, physiological and neural basis of animal behavior, animal communication and migration, as well as animal behavior and ethics.
