Social and Behavioral Determinants of Health

Description

This capstone course introduces students to various biological (e.g. genetics), psychological (e.g. self-esteem), behavioral (e.g. smoking), and socio-cultural (e.g. poverty, education, housing, food security, political systems) factors influencing health. Students explore core theories/models used in health outcome analysis from a systems perspective. Through policy analysis, students apply a social determinants of health evaluation design to address health inequities.
