This course is a general orientation to Therapeutic Recreation (TR) and its role in serving the needs of individuals with disabilities. Physical and psychosocial barriers to access, inclusion, and normalization will be discussed. The course provides an overview of the TR process, techniques, and treatments used to address the physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being of clients. Students will learn how to adapt recreation programs based on the needs, abilities, and interests of clients.
