Revision: Replaces two courses in the Education: Childhood Education Option

Effective: Fall 2024

Rationale: The Childhood Education Option in Education is being revised to add ELL101 Introduction to Language,

a previously hidden prerequisite for the capstone course, and add ELE150 Introduction to Education

Technology to the curriculum. These two courses replace SSH101 Themes in American History I and

SSH102 Themes in American History II, which are no longer specifically required for New York State

Education Department teacher education certification. ELE150 Introduction to Education Technology is

being added to enable preservice teachers to meet New York State Computer Science and Digital Fluency

Learning Standards. These course replacements will facilitate transfer across the CUNY Childhood

Education degree programs through program specific transfer credit.
